Fun Run: The annual Yarm Fun Run organised by the Yarm District Lions Club, in conjunction with Conyers School, will take place on Sunday.

The three-and-a-quarter mile fun run will start from Conyers School at noon and finish at Snaith Field, at the top of Bentley Wynd. This year there will be a shortened version of the run for younger participants, starting and finishing at the same places as the main run. Dari Taylor MP will present the prizes. Application forms are available from Yarm Library, local primary schools, Conyers School and some sports centres. Completed application forms can be returned to Conyers School as stated on the application as late entries on the day will only be accepted if time permits.

Christian Aid: Avril Rhodes, local Christian Aid organiser, described this year as a bumper year for house-to-house collections in this area. In Yarm they collected £2,735 and in Eaglescliffe £3,080 was collected. In addition the joint ecumenical service held at St Mary Magdalene Church at the start of Christian Aid week raised £74.85, giving a total of £5,889.85.

Charity night: The Ladies section and Egglescliffe community association thanked all who attended and contributed to the charity night with the Sydenham Singers on June 26. The sum of £203.50 was raised for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Help needed: Can you help save Egglescliffe Parish Hall £1,500? Thanks to a generous local donor and a charity grant from MFI it has been possible to buy a new kitchen but help is needed to install it. Installation day is Saturday, August 2 and without support it will cost £1,500 for fitting. Telephone Christine on (01642) 786330 to volunteer.

Fun day: A day of free family fun organised by Sure Start Stockton will take place at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe, on Sunday. Highlights include sky diving and gymnastic displays, falconry shows, a fire brigade team, Stockton youth choir and performing artists. Meet Specky the clown and learn circus skills or take part in a musical workshop. There will be children's craft activities, a health and well-being tent, face painting, a bouncy castle, fair, pony rides and a picnic area. The free event runs from 10am to 4pm.

Yoga classes: Yoga classes are held at Yarm Fellowship Hall, West Street on Wednesdays from 10am to 11.15am. The cost is £4 and all ages and abilities are welcome to join this small, friendly group. Bring own yoga mat or similar soft mat. For details call (01642) 272637.

Pride and Prejudice: The Illyria Outdoor Theatre Company presents Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice in the Walled Garden, Preston Park, Eaglescliffe on Sunday, July 20. Bring your own picnic and chairs or rugs. Entrance at 6pm with the performance starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £9 for adults and £5 for children.
