Kieren Fallon's booking for Blue Spinnaker (2.25) is a hint not to be missed in the Brazil And Parry Handicap at York.

Septuagenarian Sheriff Hutton handler Mick Easterby loves nothing more than having a winner at his local track and Spinnaker so nearly obliged at the course last time when finishing a close third to Time To Remember over six furlongs.

Mick is still as sharp as a razor and seeing as he doesn't miss too many tricks today's step up in trip, plus the booking of Fallon, could make the difference between victory and defeat in the £14,000 contest.

If at first you don't succeed then try and try again, that is the motto we are adopting with Armagnac (1.55), scheduled to contest the opening six furlong Sangton Leisure Stakes.

Having napped Mark Buckley's five-year-old on both of his latest two outings it would be churlish to let him pass by now, especially as he wasn't disgraced on either start.

"He's so consistent and deserves to win a decent prize, a poor high draw beat us at Newbury last time out but he is in good order," reported Armagnac's trainer Mark Buckley, who has his small Lincolnshire team in sparkling form at present.

Thirsk handler David Barron is also enjoying an excellent season, boosted further by the success of Tyne (4.45) at Redcar on June 20th.

David clearly reckons this is an opportune moment to move Tyne up in class having entered his speedy youngster in the five furlong Nursery Handicap at 4.45.

The opposition is strong, however he dismissed a useful juvenile of Lynda Ramsden's with ease at Redcar and more improvement from Tyne is definitely on the cards.

Rather than stay on home territory Tim Easterby has decided to desert his native Yorkshire with My American Beauty (1.30) and head for Ascot's Doubleprint Handicap

My American Beauty seems to thrive on the southern air having claimed a competitive sprint at Sandown just a few days ago. Tim has also taken the extra precaution of booking the top apprentice Robert Miles, who takes a handy 5lb of the selection's back.

Tim also sends Thewhirlingdervish (2.30) on a recovery mission down the M1 in the long distance Tote Exacta Handicap.

Last time out Easterby's stayer was the subject of an enormous gamble for the Ascot Stakes, backed at all rates from morning odds of 25's right down to 9-1. Everything seemed fine and dandy as Thewhirlingdervish sauntered into the home straight, but by that time he had galloped for well over two miles and as many marathon runners will testify when the tank flicks to empty the game is up.

That race was over two-and-a-half-miles whereas now he has four furlongs less to travel, which should theoretically help his reserves of stamina last out all the way to the wire.

Darryll "Dazzles" Holland's decision to shimmy both York and Ascot in favour of Chester makes sense since he has a book full of promising rides.

Holland has sniffed out an especially gilt-edged opportunity aboard Deportivo (3.25) in what is easily the most valuable event on the card, the £40,000 City Wall Stakes over five furlongs.

Having trotted up in a handicap under top-weight at the Royal meeting Roger Charlton's three-year-old then stuffed a decent field of Listed sprinters at The Curragh late on in June.

Clearly on a steep upward curve, it'll be very hard to prevent Deportivo completing his hat-trick with Darryll in the driving seat.
