THE Green Howards have been doing their bit for the future of the Army - by hosting an event with 40 young people who are considering a career as officers.
A group of young men and women have been taking part in a Look at Life event, organised by the Catterick-based 122 Army Youth Team (Green Howards). They have carried out exercises to give them an idea of the way an Army officer needs to think and act, as well as being shown what regimental life is like.
The group went on visits to the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, and to the Green Howards Regimental Museum in Richmond and also attended a dinner in the Officers' Mess at Marne Barracks.
Museum curator Major Roger Chapman said: "These young people are seriously considering a career as officers in the Army, so we felt that it was important for them to see all sides of the modern Army, as well as something of the traditions that underpin regimental life.
"They were particularly interested in the 18 Victoria Crosses won by the Green Howards, and in our film of past and present conflicts."
