RARE bats and newts are holding up the demolition of a former fun park and a multi-million pound redevelop-ment.
Developers are hoping to find the animals -both protected species - a new home so work on the project can continue.
Colonies of great crested newts have set up home in derelict buildings on the former Marvel's fun park at Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
The site is part of the North Bay redevelopment, which will cost up to £100m
The newts are set to be taken by English Nature experts to a nature reserve at Burton Riggs, Seamer.
It is hoped that alternative accommodation can be found shortly for the colony of bats.
