A POET is giving the proceeds of his first published book to a children's charity.
David Hooten, of Stockton, has compiled a collection of verse based on experiences in his life.
Living With Memories includes serious material and funny poems, including one about the dog over the road that drives him mad. It retails at £4.50 but every penny will be going to the Butterwick Children's Hospice.
"We are thrilled and very touched that he wanted to share his gift with us," said hospice spokeswoman Sarah Eldon. "He has always written poetry but said he wanted to do something with his life and now he feels as though he has achieved that."
Mr Hooten launched the book with a signing at Woolworths in Stockton.
Copies are also available from any library branch in Stockton borough.
