A LONG-TERM vision for the future of Hambleton has been set out in a community plan.

It includes ideas put forward by local people for a safer, healthier and more prosperous district.

The plan is the work of the Hambleton Local Strategic Partnership, which draws together the public, private, community and voluntary sectors.

"This plan is of great importance to the future of our area as it reinforces our commitment to partnership working to improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of our communities," said partnership chairman, Rob McMullen.

Key targets include: strong business support and help for farmers; improved transport links and reduced dependency on cars; improved leisure, culture and sports facilities; provision of services for older and young people and improved health care and improved housing provision.

More than 40 partner organisations contributed to the plan, which looks at residents' quality of life.

Different groups will now look at the plan and assess how it can best be delivered.
