SERIE A new boys Siena are understood to be weighing up a move for Sunderland striker Tore Andre Flo, writes Clive Hetherington.
Rivals Brescia are also said to have expressed an interest in the 30-year-old Norwegian international, who last week turned down the chance to move to Turkey with Galatasaray or Besiktas.
Debt-ridden Sunderland are desperate to off-load record £8.2m signing Flo, the biggest flop in the club's history.
Siena president Paolo Di Luca, whose side were Serie B champions last season, has pledged funds to strengthen for the challenge of the top flight and could meet Sunderland's £3m asking price for Flo.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth have been linked with a renewed move for £4m-rated Black Cats striker Kevin Phillips, while Aston Villa want goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen and midfielder Gavin McCann in a reported £5m double deal.
And Swiss right-back Bernt Haas yesterday finally completed his £500,000 move to West Brom. Haas, who spent last season on loan with FC Basel, has received international clearance to join Gary Megson's side on their tour of Denmark.
