NEW crop wheat prices have firmed up on the back of lower crops in France and, in particular, Russia but also good quality in France. This opens up the prospect of significant exports to the countries which were serious exporters over the last two years. One problem, however, will be competition from a large US crop.
Oilseed prices have held up, despite better yields than first anticipated in the south and a larger Canadian crop. Growers need to remember that rape below 6pc moisture can be rejected so, if it stays hot, it may be better to combine sooner rather than later.
