COUNCIL chiefs are providing £125,000 for improving facilities and safety measures for cyclists.

During the next year, Darlington Borough Council will spend the cash on developing the local cycle network, as well as enhancing parking in the area and at schools.

Among the top priorities are the third phase of improvements to West Auckland Road and work in Woodland Road.

Extra cycling facilities have already been installed at Cockerton Primary School, Dodmire Junior School and Whinfield Junior School.

Members of Darlington Transport Forum will consider the latest proposals next week.
