RESIDENTS are to be asked what they think of life in one of the region's biggest towns.

More than 8,000 doorstep surveys are to be carried out across Middlesbrough, with people asked for their views on crime, health, environment, jobs and training, education, leisure services, transport and community involvement.

The results, expected in December, will be analysed at town-wide, neighbourhood and street level.

The survey is being funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust and European funding.

Survey co-ordinator Joanne Cornfield said: "This survey is really important for the future of Middlesbrough. Your view will help shape the priorities and services provided in Middlesbrough in the future.''

The survey will be carried out over the next ten weeks by the market research company MRUK, whose staff will carry checkable identity cards.
