A YOUNG musician has won the chance to perform in concert alongside Julian Lloyd Webber this weekend.

Cellist Harriet Bradshaw, 12, auditioned alongside 16 others to become one of six people accepted for the musical extravaganza taking place at the Tees Barrage on Saturday.

Harriet, a pupil at Polam Hall School, in Darlington, is from the Hummersknott area of the town and was the youngest person to audition. She secured a place as an understudy, getting the chance to play in front of Lloyd Webber, one of the world's leading cellists, at the rehearsals.

She said: "I saw the audition advertised in the local paper and sent my CV of achievements through to apply.

"I am really pleased to have won a place as an understudy and if I am lucky I will get to play on the evening."
