A VIDEO exploring the effects of domestic violence on children has been launched in the North-East.

The video was produced by the Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans and stars pupils from the town's King James' School.

Lasting 20 minutes, it looks at the impact of domestic violence on a boy's life at home and school, and his girlfriend and friends

Rachel Green, County Durham's domestic violence strategic co-ordinator, said: "I think it's absolutely outstanding and it really gets the message across. It shows things from a young person's point of view and it gets to me every time I see it."

The film was launched at Ramside Hall Hotel, in Durham City, yesterday, when it was shown to 40 professionals from social services and the education sector.

It will be shown to pupils at secondary schools across County Durham and Darlington, as well as professionals as part of their training.
