GUISBOROUGH teenager Jonathan Cocker will be the youngest driver ever to compete in the prestigious Porsche Michelin Supercup, support race to Sunday's British Grand Prix.
Selected along with three other leading drivers from the Porsche Michelin Carrera Cup GB, the 16-year-old will make his second visit to Silverstone this season to race in the fastest one-make championship.
The race comes hot on the heels of last weekend's meeting at Croft, where Cocker made his debut at his local circuit. He finished fifth and sixth in the 11th and 12th rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup.
Starting in fifth place on the grid for the second race, Cocker dropped back to eighth early on but came back to finish sixth. The results moved him up to fifth in the championship.
Looking forward to Sunday's race, Cocker said: "I would have liked better results at Croft, especially as it's my home circuit, but I have moved up a place in the table and I'm now focusing on next weekend's event."
