A groundbreaking community initiative has seen the gardens of a North Yorkshire special school transformed.
A team from Remploy - the country's biggest employer of disabled people - took part in a Ground Force-style operation at the Dales School, at Morton-on-Swale, near Northallerton.
Remploy is involved in a number of schemes to mark 2003 as the European Year of Disabled People.
And their special projects team pooled their horticultural and construction talents for the scheme at the school, which caters for children with severe learning difficulties.
Work included demolishing and replacing an old greenhouse and designing a garden.
They created a flagged patio, renovated a water feature and put in more than 200 plants. Headteacher Frits Rab said: "Our children derive much benefit from the gardens here, but inevitably we struggle with the upkeep.
"Having the Remploy team come here and tackle the project from scratch is very much appreciated."
