A chemicals company will today be presented with the Queen's Award for Enterprise and the Royal Grant of Appointment.

The presentation to Uniqema will be made by the Lord Lieutenant of Cleveland, Lord Crathorne, at an event attended by MPs Vera Baird and Ashok Kumar, and Redcar Mayor Councillor Norah Cooney.

The award recognises the company's work in synthetic lubricant technologies that have helped protect the environment and proved good value for customers around the world.

WEB WORKSHOPS: People interested in setting up a community website can attend a free workshop. The session, hosted by The Northern Echo's CommuniGate programme, will be at Stockton Central Library tomorrow, from 10am to noon. Free websites are available for community groups and non-profit organisations.

MP'S SURGERIES: Dr Ashok Kumar, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, will hold advice surgeries today at Brotton One Stop Shop, from 3.30 pm to 4.30pm, Skelton Civic Centre from 4.45pm to 5.45pm and Guisborough Sunnyfield House between 6pm and 7pm.

FLAT BLAZE: Firefighters were called to a flat in Middlesbrough's Marton Road after smoke was seen by a neighbour. The found a small fire, which had started in a carrier bag being used for rubbish. The property was slightly damaged.
