Spennymoor A maintained their lead at the top of the First Division at ten points when they whitewashed their hosts at Fishburn A, creating a new experience for the home team as they face a relegation fight for the first time, as they share the bottom place with Witton Gilbert.

The Moors points came from Ronnie Bateman, Paul Biddle, Paul Atkinson, Karl Welsh and Michael Pratt.

There was also a new experience for Spennymoor B for, after their three points home win over Wheatley Hill B, they moved up to share the top spot in the Second Division with Meadowfield. Only Dave Blyth managed to take a point for the visiting Wheatley Hill B, whilst the Spennymoor B points came from Alan Clarke, Phil Wilson, Micky Anderson with a 42 break and Gary Eason.

Meadowfield lost their sole ownership of the top place in the Second Division when they went down in the decider at Crowtrees. Keith McLauchlan put Crowtrees ahead but then Stephen Hughes and his brother, Craig moved the visitors ahead. Steve Armstrong put in a 45 break for the home side to level and then Martin Wolf took Crowtrees to victory when he beat Ian Hodgson in the decider. This result moves Crowtrees just one point behind the top two.

New Durham became a serious threat to the top two in Division Three when they only dropped one point at Leeholme A. Lawrence Jones scored the only points for the home side, whilst Gordon Bowes, Phil Garr, Tony Thompson and Thomas Cairns moved New Durham with two points of Coundon.

Coundon were stretched before they beat the visiting Tow Law by the odd point. The home side had wins from Frank Nicholson, Stephen Bennett and Stuart Neil, with a 32 break, whilst the Lawyers had wins from Charlie Donaghy and Tommy Williams. Bearpark remained one point ahead of Coundon following their win in the decider at home to Fishburn B. Alan Smith and Shaun Easter with a 56 break, the top in the Third Division this season, moved the home side ahead but Alan Wilson and Jamie Hodgson levelled. In the decider, Bearpark's Andy Donaldson beat Winston Hodgson.

Wheatley Hill A edged three points ahead of Newton Aycliffe in second place in the First Division after they whitewashed the visiting Sherburn Village with wins from Dennis Clish, Jack Wright, Alan Hall, Dave Walker and Ronnie Peacock. Newton Aycliffe beat the visiting Newhouse in the decider to hold on to third place in the First Division. John Maddox put the visitors ahead but then the new town went ahead with wins from John Briddick and Michael Hewitt. Paul Wright levelled the match, but Aycliffe went to victory when Peter Brown beat Jimmy Hassen in the decider.

Witton Gilbert made only their second win in eight matches when they came through by the odd point at Shotton Palms, who had wins from John Armstrong and Paul Hickman, who put in a 32 break. Witton's winners were John Rooney junior, Paul Nord and John Rooney senior.

Brandon were pushed closer to the relegation zone in the First Division when they went down at Willington despite twice holding the lead. Kevin Sample put Brandon ahead but Stan Bennett equalised. Colin Goodrick restored the visitor's lead only to see Gordon Parkin level. In the decider the Willington captain, Tom Parkin beat John Hall.

Wingate pulled off a good home win over Langley Park to threaten the Second Division leading group. Ray Coates knocked in a 43 break to give the Park a great start but from there Wingate took over and went to victory with wins from Joe Hennessey, Jimmy Mason, John Bourne and Dave Hammond.

Durham City slumped to the foot of the Second Division after they failed to take a point from their visit to Ferryhill. The home side raced through to victory with wins from Mark Wilson, Neil Spender, Steve Wray, Ian Fawcett and Glyn Toas.

Crook Belle Vue are next to bottom in the Second Division after they only took one points from their home match against Stanley Central. Harold Lomax was the only home winner, whilst Harry Grimes, Norman Rimmington, Jim Dufton and Walter Cornell took the visitors through.

Hunwick maintained their fourth place in the Third Division with an odd point at Tow Law B. Lee Stockdale put the Lawyers ahead but Trevor Lomax and Tom Ward then won for Hunwick. John Wilson levelled the match only to see Barry Fleming take Hunwick to victory when he beat Paul Chollerton in the decider.

Sacriston were stretched before they beat the visiting wooden spoonists, Leeholme B. Ray Gill's and John Taylor's points for Leeholme were matched with wins from Alan Richardson and Jeff Evans. In the decider, Sacriston's Mark Appleby beat Glen Douthwaite.
