FAMILIES were given an insight into firefighters' work during a community fun day in Stockton, on Saturday.
Entertainment included fairground rides and face-painting, with ladder, hose-reel and road traffic accident demonstrations.
Cream teas, a barbecue and cake stall were on offer, as well as stalls, a tombola and activities including ten-pin bowling.
Children were also able to take a ride on the miniature fire engine, Little Dennis.
"The open day has become a popular annual event which gives us the opportunity to thank the local community and businesses for the support they give to Cleveland Fire Brigade as a whole and Stockton station in particular," said organiser Geoff Crawford, a firefighter from red watch.
"Community education is an important part of our work and events like this give us a golden opportunity to spread fire safety messages while people are actually enjoying themselves."
The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Jennie Beaumont.
Proceeds from the day will go to the Fire Service Benevolent Fund and Stockton fire station's welfare club.
