THOUSANDS of people visited one of the region's biggest steam rallies at the weekend.

The annual Steam Engine and Fair Organ Rally, at Masham, North Yorkshire, took place on Saturday and Sunday.

Attractions included a parade of vintage cars and classic tractors, a display of barn engines and machinery, and many rows of trade stands.

Always proving popular, even in the rally's 38th year, was the collection of fair organs, including the mighty Munich Oktoberfest concert organ, the largest travelling fair organ in the world.

"No rally would be complete without the melodious sound of these wonderful and intricately decorated organs, each with their own special over-80 vintage," said Masham parish councillor and organiser Flo Grainger.

Visitors looked to the skies for the highlight of the show, when the Skyshaw Aerobatics Pitts Special performed a series of breathtaking stunts.

The huge event also catered for the younger audience, with fairground rides, stalls and children's entertainment.
