Middleton St George maintained their position at the top of the table defeating Barningham by four wickets. The hosts though produced a good score making 175 for nine in just 40 overs as the runs flowed from Scott Walker, who hit one six and five boundaries in 37 before being run out and Richard Mossford carried his bat for 60 with no fewer than three sixes and seven boundaries. Towards the end Pattison added 26 and for Middleton St George Joe Binks claimed four wickets for 46 runs in 13 overs, four of which were maidens.

When the visitors replied they lost two early batsmen, but Ayubi made 38, Simon Rogers 48 with nine boundaries and Paul Rogers an unbeaten 50 which included a couple of sixes and six fours. Victory was achieved for the loss of six wickets in 37 overs with Mossford taking two for 39 and French two for 45 in the Barningham attack.

Rockliffe Park are second and they had 66 runs to spare at home to Heighington. Pybus (33) and Fidell (75) gave the Rockliffe Park innings the perfect send off. Hart added 35 and Swanick remained undefeated on 70 out of the formidable total of 259 for five. Three of the wickets were taken by Olney at a cost of 64 runs.

Riley (67) and Hill (33) threatened for a time, but the Heighington innings eventually ended on 193 for six which also included 23 not out by Howard and 32 extras, the same number that Rockliffe Park had gained in their innings. Howells returned two for 24 and Cundy two for 33 for Rockliffe Park.

Barton are third and they had just one run to spare in their home game with Ingleton. Batting first Barton ended on 172 all out which included 46 by Pheasant, 22 from Shoulder, 35 by Barker and 20 by P Frankland. Selkirk took four for 44, Osborne three for 70 and Heslop two for 13 for Ingleton who when they responded were 171 for nine. Stuart Dawson (62) and Michael Batey (61) put together a partnership which almost laid the foundations for victory but when J Frankland took three for 42, Barker three for 43 and T Frankland two for 72, Barton just edged to victory.

Cockerton had just two wickets available when they overtook the Cliffe total of 162. Opener Lee gave the innings a good send off with 48 and Dale added 27 before Rawlings carried his bat for 31. Extras at 31 also helped the Cockerton cause and for Cliffe, Bowes captured three wickets for 48 and Curry three for 19.

When they made first use of the wicket Cliffe were all for 162 which included 36 by Hipkiss and 41 from Lineton. Their innings included no fewer than 43 extras while for Cockerton, Rawlings was the most productive bowler in the four-man attack taking six wickets for just 58 runs.

Witton-le-Wear posted 204 for two at Aldbrough St John who responded with 136 for eight. Crisp batted throughout for Witton-le-Wear making an unbeaten 82 and Penfold added 33 to a first wicket partnership before Bannister carried his bat for 63.

When they went to the wicket the home side lost a couple of early wickets but Walford, who went in at number three, added 30 and Sillars contributed 43. Following their dismissals, however, the innings ended well short of the target as Nelson took three wickets for 43 runs and Snaith two for 53.

Witton-le-Wear dismissed Haughton for only 81 when Poole was in magnificent form. He returned the excellent figures of eight for 21 and for Haughton the only player to pass the 20 mark was Wilkinson with 23.

Batting first Raby Castle ended on 193 for two when Clark scored 106 and Dent 48 not out.

In Division B Rockliffe Park lead after they saw off the challenge from Heighington by 101 runs. Lowe gave the Rockliffe Park innings a good start scoring 41 but it was Edwards with a super innings of 141 which enabled the Park to reach 251 for six at Heighington where Marshall added 32. Jamieson claimed three of the six wickets to fall for 94 runs and Ainsley took two wickets for only seven runs.

When they replied Heighington were restricted to 150 for five. Storey (40) and Clark (30) raised hopes and Hodgson ended unbeaten on 25 but in the end Rockliffe Park had no fewer than 101 runs to spare. Eight players were utilised in the attack and Edwards with two for eight was the most successful.

Catterick Village are second and they gained 20 points from their eight wickets victory over Spennymoor who batting first totalled 102 for five which included an unbeaten 45 by Spence. John Galey took three for 27 in ten overs for Catterick, who gained the necessary runs losing just two wickets when Stuart Lacey (57no) and Andrew Gallagher (30) put on 60 for the second wicket. Lacey struck nine boundaries while Gallagher had one six and four fours in his total.

Middleton Tyas had 85 runs to spare when Dales managed to score only half the total their opponents had posted.

Batting first Tyas finished with 170 for nine on the board and most of the runs came form Campbell with 44 and Hurst who made 57 before being run out. Simpson took four for 57 and Hutchinson three for 69 before Dales replied with 85 all out. Campbell captured five of the wickets for only 35 runs, Baxter returned figures of three for 19 and Wilkinson two for 25 for Middleton Tyas.

There was a high scoring game between East Cowton and Eryholme which the home side won by 35 runs. After losing a couple of early wickets East Cowton recovered through Welton who made a top scoring 62 and Grant with 37. Eventually, a total of 208 for seven was realised even though Lynn claimed three for 52 and King three for 89.

In reply Eryholme had Thornton (41) and White (61) both in form, but although King added 22 the innings closed on 173 leaving the home side comfortable winners. Tucker had three for 28, Whitfield three for 47, Copeland two for 30 and Raw two for 56 in the East Cowton attack.

Middleton-in-Teesdale won a high scoring game at Lands by only 14 runs. Faced with a target of 199 Lands were restricted to 174 for nine. The Middleton bowlers made early inroads into the Lands innings but Elstob stood firm for 34 and Howe made a valuable 44 which with the assistance of 30 extras took the home side close. Fletcher captured three wickets for 38 runs, Watson two for 27 and A Coatesworth two for 55 for Middleton.

When they batted first Middleton were indebted to a second wicket stand between A Coatesworth who batted throughout the innings for an unbeaten 49 and Fletcher with 46. Hutchinson then struck 61 as a near 200 total was posted despite both Simpson and Dalton claiming two wickets apiece in the Lands attack.

Trimdon CCA went to Spennithorne and Harmby but lost by three wickets. Hodgson opened the innings for Trimdon scoring 43 and Carter added 27 which together with 36 extras enabled the visitors to total 144 for eight even though Burton took three for 29, Walker two for 31 and Clarkson two for 37 in the home attack.

Replying Spennithorne and Harmby had Greaves in form and his 24 runs gave the innings a good send off but it was Walker who steered the side to victory when he made 60. Carter was the most productive bowler in the Trimdon attack with figures of four for 69.

In Division C Brompton-on-Swale won a low scoring game with Barton by just one wicket. Leybourne (3-32) and Felstead who captured six wickets for 22 runs, reduced Barton to 58 but when Hull took five for 27 and Fairley four for 32, Brompton had their backs to the wall and were pleased that Stabler carried his bat for 43 out of a total of 60.

Dalton took a hat-trick in figures of five for 22 when Cliffe restricted Cockerton to 106 for nine which included 39 by Simpson. Cliffe went on to win losing two wickets as Phillips contributed 38.

Haughton overtook the Raby Castle total of 171 losing just one wicket. Burgess made 65 and Dobinson an unbeaten 62 while for Raby Castle Lee added 48 and Caygill 41. Deuchar claimed three of the Raby Castle wickets for 30 runs.

Barningham had their last pair at the wicket when they defeated King James. Brack with five for 54 and Hill whose four wickets cost just 54 runs, almost snatched victory for King James who ended on 121 all out batting first. Davison top scored with 43 and Hill added 22 while for Barningham Moore returned five for 37 and Banks four for 55.

Aldbrough St John defeated Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill. Lewis ended unbeaten 103 out of the Aldbrough total of 178 for six and replying Trimdon were 147 all out as Bickerman claimed three wickets for only 36 runs.
