Thousands of call centre workers in the North-East could lose their jobs over the next five years, it was revealed yesterday.
Business analysts Key Note say companies are likely to start locating the jobs in countries like India to cut costs.
BT and Tesco have already announced plans to do so.
Nearly 600,000 workers, including a high proportion in the North-East, are employed by British call centres
