Puppets made by youngsters across Derwentside will be on stage this week.

Gobby Base Puppet Club, part of Busy Ape Arts, has been working with primary school children to create a show that combines puppetry, dance and drama. The result, called When Puppets Rule the World, will be performed at the Lamplight Arts Centre, Stanley, on Friday, at 7.30pm. For tickets, call the box office on (01207) 218899.

COUNCIL STALLS: Chester-le-Street District Council has put up four stalls with canopies at its market. The stalls are tried out in an effort to make the market more attractive. If the scheme proves popular the council may introduce them throughout the market.
