MOBILE phone operator Orange was expected to announce a healthy second quarter as it reported its interim results to the City today.
The company, which employs an estimated 5,000 people in its communication centres in the region, is also predicted to have benefited from its new advertising and training campaign, which encourages users to get more out of their phones.
An Orange spokeswoman said last night that as a direct result of the campaign, footfall in Orange shops had increased by 13 per cent.
She also revealed a massive 35 per cent increase in the use of internet WAP (wireless application protocol) use.
Shop staff all over the UK have been trained to become "phone gurus".
