AN IRAQI man wanted for questioning over a murder in Hull could be in the North-East.
Detectives in Humberside are trying to trace the whereabouts of Tony Karim, an asylum seeker, who it is believed has connections with Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
Police have made an urgent nationwide appeal for help in finding the 19-year-old who is wanted for questioning over the killing of refugee Sheik Mohamed, 29, on July 24 after he was violently assaulted,
Security TV footage shows Mr Mohamed drinking in a Hull bar with a man believed to be Mr Karim, whose real name is not thought to be Tony, but it is a name he is known by.
Humberside Police took the unusual step of releasing his photograph.
Detective Superintendent Paul Davison said: "Our inquiries to find Karim have been unsuccessful up to now and there is a possibility he may have left Hull which is why we are extending our appeal nationwide."
Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Humberside Police on (01482) 326111.
