Tynemouth won with just five wickets and four balls remaining when they hosted Morpeth. Faced with scoring 87, they were indebted to Michael Phillips who had five boundaries in 43 out of a total of 87 for five. Batting first, Morpeth ended with 86 for eight on the board with Gorman and Craigs both scoring 20. The pair each found the boundary line on three occasions and so too did O'Brien who carried his bat for 26. Stephen Harrison celebrated with a hat trick in the Tynemouth attack finishing with the creditable figures of five for 25 in five overs.

Benwell Hill defeated Ashington by six wickets. Required to make 90, they did so mainly through the batting efforts of Robert Sarginson (32no) and Richard Wadell with 22.

Ross Sample was the most productive bowler in the Ashington attack with two for 20 from five overs.

When they made first use of the wicket, Ashington ended with 89 for four on the board. Straker top scored with 25 and Whitworth added 23 while in the Benwell Hill attack, none did better than Andrew Dawson with two for eight from five overs.

Foster's ECB North East Regional Premier League U15s

Chester-le-Street, had eight wickets in hand of Newcastle when they were required to score 99. Jones, with an unbeaten 40 and Marshall (24) provided most of the runs for the Tynesiders while in the Cestrians' attack Steve McTaggart captured three for three runs, Darren Redfearn had three for 11 and Jack Taylor three for 26. Replying Chester-le-Street lost just a couple of wickets and were indebted to Martin Stephenson for his unbeaten 47 and to Jamie Atkinson who added 20.

Philadelphia played their first game in the competition and won visiting Stockton. The home side made 119 and although Phili replied with only 89 for seven, they won with the Duckwith- Lewis method after the match was interrupted by rain.

ECB U13 National Club Championship

Ashington will represent the Northern Region in the finals of the ECB National Club Championships which takes place over five days at Oakham School between August 4-8. In the semi-final, the Northumberland champions defeated Durham County champions Lintz with ease. Ashington totalled 143 for three which included 30 not out by Mark Wood and an unbeaten 24 from Scott Dunn. Mattie Walton added the useful 21 and for Lintz, Matthew Wilcox captured all three wickets to fall for just three runs. When they replied, Lintz were all out for just 37.

In the other semi-final, Scottish champions Fauldhouse totalled 58 and Cockermouth the Cumbria champions won losing eight wickets.

Ashington then met Cockermouth in the regional final and won by 51 runs. The Colliers batted first and realised 137 for four with scores from Daniel Grant (30no) Jonathan Storey (31), Mattie Walton (26) and Scott Dunn (23). Chris Watson then took two for 13 runs as Cockermouth were dismissed for just 86.

It is the first time that Ashington have reached the final stages of the competition.

Fosters Tyneside Senior League U15s

Sacriston romped to a match-winning 148 for two when they visited Swalwell who replied with only 76 for seven.

When they batted first, Sacriston had Michael Fort (40), Hockaday (37) and Tilley (24no) all in form.

Although Rob Grand scored 33, Swalwell were never in the hunt as Tilley took two for six and Hall two for four.

Lintz totalled only 76 for seven but Consett managed only 54 for eight in their reply. Andy Smith recorded a couple of boundaries making a top scoring 31 for the home team and in the Consett attack Dixon captured three for just 17 in five overs.

Although Dixon then top scored with 28 Consett fell 22 runs short of the Lintz total as Andy Smith completed a good night capturing five for three runs in five overs. Robbie Griffin also starred with the ball for Lintz claiming a hat trick in figures of three for three taken from three overs.

Lanchester overtook the Greenside total of 72 without losing a wicket and most of their runs came from Nick Ridley who carried his bat for 52. Batting first, Greenside's top performer was Grant with 21 and for Lanchester Ridley claimed three for eight runs in four overs and Glen Harrison three from 17 from the five overs he delivered.

Daniel O'Sullivan struck a magnificent unbeaten 153 when Crookhall total totalled 226 for one in their home game with Whickham. The 14-year-old hammered nine sixes and 19 boundaries which together with Nicky Curran (34) and Paul Greenwell (26) presented Whickham with a formidable total.

Stewart struck three boundaries in 23 but Whickham were all out for 62 as man of the match O'Sullivan took five wickets for just 17 runs in five overs. Greenwell captured three wickets for four runs in 3.4 overs and Michael Thompson took two for 221 from the five overs he bowled.

Federation Special Durham Senior League U18s

Durham City made a useful 95 for seven but still lost by eight wickets in their home game against Philadelphia. Bewick Hall claimed three for ten when City batted first and in reply Philadelphia won losing just a couple of wickets as Ross Galley scored 29 and William Orchin an unbeaten 24.

Boldon and South Shields produced a high scoring game which resulted in Shields winning with their last pair at the wicket. They needed 113 and were indebted to Paul Muchall for his 39 and to Mark Appleton, who ended unbeaten with 30. Chris Siddell had a good night with the ball for Boldon taking three wickets at a cost of only 19 runs.

Batting first, Boldon made the useful total of 112 for four and they were indebted to Richard Potter who top scored with 43.

Whitburn hosted neighbours Sunderland and lost by eight wickets. Peter Marshall with 36, led the village side to 95 for seven before Sunderland went on to win conceding just a couple of wickets.

Horden had all their wickets remaining defeating Felling who they restricted to 80 for four which included 25 by Michael Barnes. Carl Watson was in good form with the ball for Horden, capturing three wickets for only 16 runs and the youngster then went on to complete the man of the match performance when he scored an unbeaten 58 out of the Horden total of 81 for none.

Paul Riddle, with 35, led Hetton Lyons to 65 for six as Richard Smith returned two for ten and Mark Lockie three for six in the Gateshead Fell attack. The Fell lost just one wicket making the necessary 66 runs.

At Eppleton the home side had eight wickets remaining when they over took the Marsden total of 69 for four. David Lowther took two of the four wickets to fall for just 12 runs before Matthew Hooper carried his bat for 31 out of a total of 73 for two. Both the wickets were taken by Charles Amer at a cost of 35 runs.

Federation Special Durham Senior League U15s

Brothers Ben and Thomas Raine were prominent for Philadelphia but they could not prevent their side losing to Chester-le-Street at Bunker Hill. Replying to a target of 120, Phili ended with only 92 for nine on the board when most of the runs were scored by Ben, with 36 and Thomas (25). McTaggart was in good form with the ball for the Cestrians, claiming three for eight.

Earlier, the visitors posted 119 for five which included 31 by Atkinson and 23 apiece from McTaggart and Redfearn. Kieron Waterson was another bowler to take three wickets in the game at a cost of 30 runs.

Durham City won comfortably at Marsden where they reduced the home side to 53 for eight. Parker was the most productive bowler in the City attack capturing three for four. the Durham City youngsters went on to win losing just two wickets.

South Shields needed to score 101 runs in their home game with Sunderland and they did so with three wickets remaining. Liam Taylor top scored with an unbeaten 27 and for the visitors Richard Hughes returned the best figures of two for 27. When they made first use of the wickets Sunderland realised 100 for seven and Ross Smith top scored with 45 while for South Shields Chris Watson took three for 26.

Rain caused the abandonment of the game at Low Fell when Gateshead Fell were 78 for four replying to the Whitburn total of 117 for four.

Hetton Lyons had 42 runs in hand of Felling. Brothers Callum (35) and Ryan Pringle (26) were both in good form for the Lyons and so too was John McGuinnes who recorded four boundaries in 27.

McCannon claimed two for two in one over and Lowther had two for 22 from five overs for Felling who in reply, managed only 62 for five.

George top performed with the bat for Felling hitting a couple of boundaries in an unbeaten 33 while for Hetton Lyons, John McGuinnes too ktwo for nine in three overs and Owen Gwyn also bowled three overs returning two for seven.

Durham Coast League U18s

Despite making a useful 119 for three, Bill Quay had only 12 runs to spare at home to Ryhope. Michael Phillips top scored with 52 and Zuhaib Hussein added 40 to the Bill Quay total of 119 for three. Two of the wickets were taken by Adam Swansbury at a cost of 27 runs.

When they went into bat, Ryhope made a bold attempt to reach the target but when the overs expired they had managed only 107 for eight which included 40 by Howe.

Michael Phillips completed a good night when he captured three for only 28 runs and Kevin South gave support with two for 15.

Seaham Park had 29 runs in hand of Hylton. When they made first use of the wicket Seaham ended on 110 for seven which included 50 by David Morton and 26 from Asim Akhtar. Jones took two for four runs, Rushworth two for 17 and Foster two for 39 in the Hylton attack.

Despite 30 by Brian Conlin, Hylton were all out for 81 as Akhtar returned three for nine and Shaun Sutherland took three for six.

Durham Coast League U15s

Blackhall just had the edge on Silksworth following a low scoring game. Marsh scored more than half the Blackhall total when he contributed 36 out of 68 for the loss of seven wickets.

Scott Davison took two wickets for eight runs and Adam Thompson two for 12 for Silksworth who replying were restricted to 57 for eight, leaving Blackhall the winners by 11 runs. Craig Niele top scored with 29 for Silksworth and in the Blackhall attack O'Callaghan claimed two for 19 and Darby two for 11.

Seaham Park posted 105 for seven before reducing neighbours Dawdon to just 64 for nine. Robinson (36) and Anderson with 22 were both in good form for the Park and in the Dawdon attack, Chris Edwards captured two for 20 and Jonathan Dickens three for 13. Robinson was Seaham's top bowler with two for two.

Houghton realised 130 for two from just 20 overs when they visited Peterlee. Marchent with 43 and McCoy (30 no) gave the innings a good start and Lawson added 26. When Greenwell claimed two for two and Johnson two for seven Peterlee were back in the pavilion with only 55 runs on the board.

Castle Eden lost by four wickets to Boldon CA. Batting first, the home side managed only 74 for six and Boldon overtook the target with four wickets remaining.

Ryhope were another side to win comfortably in their home fixture with Hylton. The visitors were sent back for just 45 runs as David Miller claimed three for seven and Vince McBeth two for four the youngsters each sending down four overs in the Ryhope attack.

David Hughes hit one six and five boundaries in and unbeaten 50 and Scott Gibb three fours out of an unbeaten 25 when Ryhope totaled 110 for four. The wickets were shared by Barnett with two for ten and Horsburgh, with two for 25.

Fosters Tyneside Senior League U18s

ADixon and Martin Hubber were both in top form but Sacriston still lost by three runs to visitors Lanchester. Replying to the Lanchester total of 119 for nine, Sacriston ended on 116 for two which included 56 by Dixon and 44 from Hubber.

When they made first use of the wicket, Lanchester had Ian Stewart in form and his 48 was crucial to the final score as Dixon captured five for 17 in five overs.

Crookhall overtook the Ryton score of 87 for one with four wickets remaining. Daniel Stewart made 46 and in the Ryton attack Dochley returned three for 24 from five over and Nixon two for 13 in his three overs spell.

Peter Bates led the Ryton innings ending undefeated on 36 and Dochley added a valuable 29 runs.

Consett had the edge over Greenside at Blackfyne. Needing 95 runs for victory they lost only a couple of wickets as John Lidster struck six boundaries in an undefeated 48. When they batted first, Greenside posted 94 for seven which included 40 by Wilkes while for Consett, Chris Holliday had the excellent figures of four for 12 from five overs.

Marcus Peart recorded two fours in an unbeaten 40 and Nick Young also hit two boundaries carrying his bat for 20 when Burnopfield totaled 76 for two. Harrison claimed most of the wickets for six runs in five overs and Annfield Plain sent on to win losing just one wicket. Arron Leathley had five boundaries in 31 and Harrison two sixes and three fours making an unbeaten 29.

The runs flowed when Shotley Bridge entertained Whickham and won by eight wickets. Their target was 134 and when Charlton struck an unbeaten 46 and Stokoe 44, The Spa side won comfortably. Adam Ainley led the Whickham innings to 133 for seven contributing 53.
