Chester-le-Street Ladies clinched the North Tyneside International Youth Tournament trophy last week.

This was the club's second piece of silverware in seven days following the previous week's under 18 win at the Rutherford International tournament.

The club's new kit sponsors New Life Hypnosis must be delighted with the success achieved by the team this summer.

In game 1 at Whitley Bay, the Cestrians had a hard fought 1 - 1 draw with Wardley Eagles, Natalie Gutteridge scoring for CLS. This was followed by a comfortable 4-2 victory over Newcastle Development. The scorers for CLS were: Rachel Hedley (2), Rachel Furness, Natalie Gutteridge.

Game three saw CLS take on Berwick Girls - a team put together at a minute's notice and who take most of the credit for battling on against the odds. Many of the players had never even met let alone play together before. Then came game four against Boldon, The tournament favourites. Four goals in the first half from Natalie Gutteridge (2), and Rachel Hedley (2)put the game out of reach in what was to be a dress rehersal of the final.

Boldon took an early lead in the final through Amy McDowell, only for Natalie Gutteridge to equalise before half time. Gutteridge was named Player Of The Game for CLS after hitting two second half goals to claim the trophy in the Clubs 5th final in five years.

More bad news for the opposition - only the centre backs, Leanne Clark and Rae Taylor are ineligible for next years tournament.
