Tow Law Area League: Tow Law New Market A moved up to second place after they only dropped two points on their visit to Cornsay Royal Oak.

The home side started in great style when Sonia Windsor put them ahead but from that point the visitors took over with singles wins from Raymond Wright, Colin Armstrong, Darren Yeoman, John Parkin and John Graham. The Oak took their second point in the first doubles but the Market finished in style with wins in the remaining doubles to move four points behind the Stag's Head and one in front of Esh McKenna's.

Esh Stag's Head retained their top spot with a good home win over Tow Law Station, who were replaced in third place by McKenna's. The Stag's had singles wins from Dave Hindmoor, David Metcalfe, Mally Walker and John Hodgson, whilst the Station replied through Ron Kitchen and Tony Brennen. The visitors only managed the first doubles as the Stag's completed their three points victory.

Newhouse Club failed to take advantage of the slip up by the league leaders, Tow Law Football Club, who only collected one points from their visit to Tow Law Da's Castle A. Newhouse went down in the decider at home to Hamilton Row Black Horse and have to settle for second place, one point behind the footballers but one ahead of Tow Law Dan's Castle B.

Rob Day gave Newhouse a good start by taking the first point but the Horse went ahead through Steve Wilkie and Barry Sims. Mike Starr levelled the match but then the Horse grabbed victory when John Robinson beat Dave Morris in the decider.
