ABBEY Bells Sister Philomena, a Welsh Section A pony owned by Mrs Margaret Williams of Nunthorpe, won the mini Mountain and Moorland championship at the recent Royal International Horse Show.
The victory was a great achievement as the four-year-old lead rein pony, produced by Jerome Harforth of Great Ayton, is in her first season under saddle.
The pony, ridden at Hickstead by eight-year-old Oliver Beebee from Wigan and shown by Simon Charlesworth of Great Ayton, has also qualified for the Nureyev lead rein championship at the Ponies UK summer show at Peterborough on Wednesday.
She will then be aimed at Horse of the Year Show qualifiers for the rest of the season.
