A PRIMARY school pupil has been awarded the top prize in a painting competition.
Sally Shanks, of Mount Pleasant School, Darlington, won a sunflower painting competition, organised as part of the Sunflower campaign run by St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington.
Her picture was displayed with those by other pupils for a week in July at the town's Cornmill Shopping Centre.
Mount Pleasant raised £52 for the hospice during the Sunflower campaign.
Sally received £100 of Cornmill Centre vouchers for her school and a goodie bag for herself.
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "As usual we had tremendous support for the Sunflower campaign from the local community."
