COMPANIES can take advantage of this year's rising temperatures to save on tax, Darlington business advisors say.
As UK temperatures soar and business owners try to keep staff cool, Peter Hogan, tax partner at Clive Owen and Co in Darlington, said there was a positive spin-off from this month's record sunshine.
Any business spending money on energy-saving machinery, such as solar thermal systems, are entitled to 100 per cent capital allowances.
To qualify for the tax breaks, businesses must channel their expenditure into new machinery.
Mr Hogan said: "While the sweltering temperatures are not conducive to hard work, businesses could make significant tax savings by installing solar-powered equipment in their premises.
" Look on the bright side - August's endless sunshine could save you money."
