ARTIST Nicola Wallis is celebrating after becoming one of only 25 students to show their work at a national exhibition.

The 22-year-old, from Darlington, was chosen to display her work at the Northern Graduates exhibition in the New Academy Gallery and Curwen Gallery, in London.

Nicola attended Carmel Technology College in Darlington, before going to Newcastle College of Art and Design and later Northumbria University, where she gained a degree in fine art.

Her work was selected for the exhibition after a display at the university last month.

The Northern Graduates exhibition is being staged for the 16th time, featuring the work of 25 graduates from universities throughout the North. It runs until August 27.

Nicola has also been awarded the Northumbria Fine Art Fellowship, due to start in October, which will allow her to develop her work and provide support for lecturers with undergraduate teaching.
