RESIDENTS in Hartlepool are being urged to have their say about flooding problems in the town.

Next week, there will be three meetings of Hartlepool Borough Council's environmental stewardship and regeneration scrutiny forum as part of its ongoing investigation of the problem and search for a solution.

Residents are being urged to attend the meetings and give their opinions about how they think the problem can be tackled.

West View, Rift House, Valley Drive, Stranton Cemetery and the railway bridge in Station Lane, Seaton Carew, have all suffered from flooding in recent years, and most recently after the violent storm on Sunday.

The dates and venues are: South Area Flooding, on Tuesday, at Meadowfield Court, Seaton Carew, at 10am.

North Area Flooding, next Wednesday, at West View Community Centre, Miers Avenue, at 2pm.

Central Area Flooding, Thursday, August 21 at the Civic Centre, in Victoria Road, at 7pm.

The meetings are the latest in a series being held to find ways of ending the town's flooding problems.

Councillor Sandra Fenwick, forum chairman, said: "Although Sunday's storm was a freak storm, it nevertheless highlighted once again how flooding is causing misery and upheaval to people around the town. It is crucial some long-term solutions are found soon."
