A Darlington musician performed at the Edinburgh Festival after winning a national competition.
Singer-songwriter Sam Upshall, 24, played a half-hour set of original material on the Meadows Stage, on Sunday.
He said the crowd was the biggest he had ever played before.
"This was a great opportunity for me," he said.
"It was an excellent experience."
The competition was organised by communications company Orange, a festival sponsor, to discover hidden talent among its staff.
Mr Upshall, who has worked as a customer service representative at Orange in Darlington for three years, has been playing music since he was 16 at venues across the region.
He has been writing music since his mother taught him to play guitar when he was seven.
