ORGANISERS of an annual show in Stockton are promising that this year it will be bigger and better than ever.

About 15,000 people are expected to attend the Stockton Summer Show at Preston Park this month and each of the four days will be themed.

The weekend begins with a magical mystery day on Friday, August 22, and Middlesbrough Magic Circle will be telling stories for children and adults.

There will also be falconry displays, children's workshops and a Punch and Judy show.

Visitors who turn up on the day in mythical and magical fancy dress will get in free - otherwise entry is £1.

On Saturday, August 23, it is a pets and people day. A dog agility team, falconry, miniature horses and police horses will be on display. Sunday is family fun day, with a street and walkabout theatre. Performers include The Fairly Famous Family and the Great British Street Show.

Bank Holiday Monday is Wild West Day, which will feature four hours of entertainment, including knife throwing, giant western wrestlers and rope spinning.

There will be side-shows, craft and charity stalls, as well as trade stands.

In addition, there will be a fun-fair, military displays, quad bikes, climbing wall and army laser dome.

The cost to attend the event on Saturday to Monday is £2 a day for adults and £1 a day for concessionsm with free entry for the under-fives.

Parking will be free.
