BUS-users in Billingham are to be given some cover from the weather after planning permission was granted to build five shelters in the town's Marsh House Avenue.

The two existing bus shelters on the eastern side of the road outside The Merlin and south of Newbiggin Road are to be replaced while a new one will be built south of Wolviston Back Lane.

On the other side of the road, a shelter will be built just north of the electric sub station and the other just south of Butsfield Way. These areas of the road are often exposed to the weather and residents have welcomed the news of the shelters.
