YOUNGSTERS have been lending a helping hand to visitors to their town.

Billingham Kids Club was formed earlier this year for children aged between seven and 16.

It is an educational youth group which encourages children to have fun and learn about the wider community.

This week they are busy helping with the Billingham International Folklore Festival and have helped make beds, carrying the festival banner and are now acting as guides alongside some of the youth workers.

One of the workers, Linda Pickering, was involved as a child in a youth scheme at the first Billingham Folklore Festivals in the 1960s.

The club has received funding from the Local Network through Cleveland Community Foundation, which has paid for new clothing which the children are wearing at the festival.

It has also funded an educational visit to London for Remembrance Weekend in November, where they will see the Lord Mayor's Show and Remembrance Parade.

Places are available to join the Kids Club. For details contact the Billingham Forward office in Billingham town centre.
