CALL centre group CJ Garland has had state-of-the-art IT infrastructure installed at its new Middlesbrough site.

The Hartlepool service provider has new computers and other IT equipment put in place for 600 staff, with the capability of growing to 1,000 as employment at the centre expands.

Croft plc, the Newcastle ICT company, carried out the installation - one of the first of its type in Europe.

The Middlesbrough centre represents Garlands' first foray out of its home town of Hartlepool and gives phone support for Freeserve and Virgin Mobile.

CJ Garland Garlands Call Centres was named 'Best Large UK Contact Centre' at the 2002 National Customer Service Awards and 21st fastest growing UK business in The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 league table for 2002. It is the second largest private employer in the Tees Valley.
