Callum Randall made a real splash into the world when he was born in the bath - as his mother didn't even know she was pregnant.

Shocked Carolyn Randall, 23, had been feeling ill but did not discover why until she gave birth to her 7lb 7oz baby.

Carolyn, an accounts clerk, had an upset stomach - but decided to stay at work.

When she returned home at 4.30pm, she went straight to bed, but a couple of hours later woke in a sweat and ran herself a bath to cool down.

As she sat she felt the sudden urge to push and out popped Callum.

Carolyn said: "He made a splash in the water. I had to grab him out of the water and I just sat there looking at him. I was absolutely shocked."

Minutes later Carolyn's mother, Barbara, 57, returned to the house in York to screams coming from the bathroom.

Mrs Randall, a housewife, said: "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I said 'Oh my God'. I kept thinking - How? Why? I made sure Carolyn was alright and then I telephoned an ambulance. We were both as stunned as each other."

Carolyn said: "No one could believe it. I had had no signs that I was pregnant.

"I had periods, I had no morning sickness, I've never been thin but didn't put on any weight to mention. In fact, people had been telling me I had lost weight."

Carolyn is now planning to find a new house with fiance Paul Heath, 22, a warehouse worker from Chesterfield.
