ABOUT 30 A-level computer studies students are still awaiting their exam results following a mix-up.

The group, from Stockton Riverside College, sat their exams with the Edexcel exam board, which said it is waiting for results of coursework to be sent to it before markers can give out grades.

However, the college said the problem lay with the exam board.

A spokesman for the college said: "We do not know why there has been a problem as we were given no advance warning of it.

"We did try and alert students to the problem, and it is very regrettable in terms of students who have been affected.

"We are hoping the full results will be available in the next three days."

A spokeswoman from Edexcel said: "We are still waiting for some coursework marks to be sent to us from the college.

"When the students receive the results all depends on when we receive the coursework marks."

The incident is the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Edexcel.

They include setting an unanswerable maths question and missing pages on a communications exam.

* Due to errors in yesterday's A-level results coverage, we would like to make it clear that Fay Tuddenham and Steven Metcalfe are students at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.

Two students' names were also spelt incorrectly, and should have read Natalie Bolton and Gemma Parrl. We apologise for the errors.
