FIREFIGHTERS watched yesterday as dozens of tonnes of hay were allowed to burn out.
A suspected arson attack destroyed 145 tonnes of baled hay in a field on the road between Sedgefield and Great Burdon, on the outskirts of Darlington.
Fire crews were called at about 8.40pm on Tuesday and continued to supervise the scene yesterday.
