YOUNGSTERS are using their artistic skills to persuade people to not drop litter.

Children and teenagers were given the challenge of designing posters to encourage residents and visitors to Guisborough to keep the town tidy.

The competition was organised by Guisborough Town Council and the winners have had their work printed.

They are being displayed throughout the town in pubs, schools, fast food outlets, health centres and the library.

Councillor Anne Franklin, who presented the winners with £20 vouchers at a ceremony, said: "The posters were marvellous. It is lovely to see children getting so involved.

"It just shows how children feel about litter. I don't think they are the ones who are dropping the litter."

The winning posters were designed by James Bolton, Andrew Kidd, Shannon Brundle, Liam Dixon, Nicole Sunley, Cassie Readman, Katie Walton, Georgina McFarlane, Lauren Chapman, Alice Neville-Smith and Shaun Harrison.
