ROUND-THE-WORLD yachtswoman Emma Ric-hards will tomorrow launch her new racing yacht.
Scarborough print and multi-media company Pindar has invested a six-figure sum in the yacht, to be named Pindar of Scarborough. It will be launched at Scarborough Harbour.
Ms Richards, who became the first woman to complete the Around Alone race, in which she came fourth, will use the yacht in future races.
The Open 60 class yacht will have its deput in the Transat Jacques Vabres transatlantic race from Le Havre, in France, to Salvador, in Brazil, in November.
Pindar's chairman, Andrew Pindar, said "Emma has been a great ambassador for us for the past four years and we have received considerable business benefit through our involvement in sailing."
Ms Richards plans to take part in other crewed races next year, including the Quebec to St Malo event.
