RESIDENTS in Stockton are urged to be on their guard after bogus callers conned an elderly woman out of money.
The incident happened last week, when three men called at the victim's home in Stockton.
One, claiming to be from a water company, asked the woman to check her water supply in the kitchen while the other two searched the upstairs bedroom.
When they were confronted by the woman they left with a considerable amount of money.
The first is described as 6ft, about 28, stocky, with short hair and a round face. He had a large mole under his left eye and a fresh complexion.
He was wearing a white T-shirt and light trousers. A second man was the same height, aged 25 to 30 and dressed similarly.
