Crook Ladies League: Billy Row Royal George pulled off a major upset when they won only their second game of the season by beating the visiting Crook Belle Vue by a decisive five points.

The bottom team, Tow Law North Point also pulled off a victory when they won by the odd point at Billy Row Green B.

With only two matches left to the halfway point in the season Crook Queen's Head A remain unbeaten and lead the table by nine points from Crook Jelly's Bar B. The Victoria Club are 16 points behind Jelly's B but have an eight points advantage over Crook Travellers Rest and Tow Law Black Horse.

Crook Olde Horse Shoe will meet Crook Royal Sun Inn in the final of the League Team Knockout Cup on Finals Night after they came through the qualifying stages played at two venues.

The leading individual scorers were Ruby Clarke 119, Pauline Wright 127, Teresa Shevills 126 and 105, Michelle Simpson 140, Kay Slater 126, Christine Ward 125, Emma Fleming 130 and Shona Britton 110.

Billy Row Club moved up to second place in the table, two points behind the leaders from Newhouse Club, after they won by three points at Tow Law New Market B. After the trebles were shared the home side had singles wins from Wayne Anderson and Joe Jordan, whilst the visitors went ahead with wins from Joe McCorquedale, George Blakey, Carl Wilcockson and Les Hopps. The Market took the first doubles but Billy Row completed a good win by taking the final two doubles.

George Blakey hit 180 and two 140s and Carl Wilcockson two 140s for Billy Row, whilst Wayne Anderson and Michael Bell hit 140 each and Joe Jordan put in a 120 check-out for the New Market B.

Esh Stag's Head dropped valuable points when they just edged through by the odd point at home to Hamsteels Inn. The visitors took both trebles points. The singles were then shared with Gary Tucker, Colin Tomlinson and Ken Robson winning for the home side and Bobby Hird, Dave Ayling and Barry Argar replying. The Stag's recovered and went to victory by taking all three doubles points.

Ken & Doreen Johnson Memorial

Ithe first qualifying round, Crook Cricket Club and Crook Spitfire Club A won their way to the finals in some close matches. The Cricket Club only needed to win one match against a strong team from Crook Queen's Head B but it went the full distance before the Cricketers won. Even so the Queen's had the first shot at a double in the deciding leg but failed.

Crook Spitfire Club B had to play Crook Coach and Horses for the right to play off against Crook Spitfire Club A for a final spot. Once again the match was very tight with the Spitfire Club winning by the odd point. In the decider the Spitfire A went on to beat their B team by two points.

Dorothy Renwick of Crook CC was the individual star of the night when she heard the magic 180 cry. The other individual leading scorers were Barbara Smith 140 and Dawn Lennon 101 for the Cricket Club, Marian Hesp and Dawn Harrison 140 each for the Queen's Head.

Sunnybrow Brown Trout A went down to their first defeat of the season when they entertained the Prospect Club in the top of the table clash. The Trout had singles wins from Paul Allchurch, Trevor Allchurch, who put in a best of season 15 darts leg, Jason Martin and Nigel Barker with Micky Pickles and Paul Allchurch adding a doubles. The Prospect had singles points from Trevor Bourne and Harold Farrer with Norma Davison with Trevor Bourne and Paul Morris with Harold Farrer adding doubles points. The Prospect then clinched victory by winning the double points team game.

Despite the first defeat the Brown Trout A still lead the table by three points from the Prospect, who are one point ahead of Hunwick Joiners Arms.
