Wearside League: Regardless of the outcome of their game with Wolviston at Jack Clark Park, Cleadon SC will still lead the table tonight.

They are four points clear and manager Doug Key reckons his side is in pole position on merit.

"I know critics claimed we would not last the pace, but after 11 games we have lost just once. We've won eight, that's more than any other side," enthused Key.

Tony Fyall and Peter Brand are missing and Andrew Potts will undergo a late fitness test. Wolviston miss central defender John Patterson and sweeper Gareth Murphy. Gareth Richardson faces a pre-match fitness test and striker Guy Whatmore is ruled out after breaking his ankle in two places last weekend, but defender Matthew Martin and midfielder Paul Jewitt return.

Three sides have the same number of points with Stokesley SC, at home to Ryhope CW, second top on goal difference.

Unavailable are Neil Southall, Ian Redpath and Robert Donnelly but Matthew Homan, Paul Aldridge and Craig Hutton return.

North Shields are third ahead of their visit to Birtley Town. Anthony Robson returns after suspension and also included in the squad are strikers Eddie Miller and Steve Hamil together with defender Mark Cass.

Fourth-placed New Marske go into their game against Gateshead Reserves at the International Stadium with a full squad.

Ferryhill Athletic manager Mark Fanning has several players returning for the home fixture with Barnard Castle Glaxo. Andrew Boyes, Lee Jewitt, Dean Harkus, Stuart Illingworth and Ryan Stonehouse all come into his plans, as does recent signing, goalkeeper David Raine.

Glaxo miss leading scorer Ross Murray but Andrew Bellew and Andrew Smith are available and it is possible that a new player will be signed before kick-off.

For their home game with Windscale, Harton and Westoe cannot call upon assistant manager Shaun Simpson, Philip Smith and goalkeeper Neil Smith. Manager Ronnie Thompson has Paul Burrell returning and he is attempting to sign a keeper as cover for Neil Smith.

Annfield Plain go to Darlington RA with John Moore back from suspension while the home side are pleased that Max Ripley and Mark Radmore have also completed their bans.

Washington Nissan UK, who recorded their first win last week, visit Boldon CA minus suspended goalkeeper Stephen Corrigan and centre back Stephen Smith.
