Nunthorpe's Lynsey Davison has recently re-entered the world ranking list and her position rocket from 1,015 to best ever 834. This places her now in 23rd spot in the British order of merit.

Points gained in the Hastings Direct Tour tournament in Sheffield where the quarter-finals were reached, plus more acquired in the higher standard ITF 10,000 dollars tournament in Sunderland with two wins in the qualifying rounds to make the main draw, have kept the Teessider secure in the rankings.

Sarah Borwell, her Durham and Cleveland colleague, has moved one place to eighth in Britain with a world ranking of 383. She made the semi-finals in the Sunderland tournament, but has a first round casualty in the ITF tournament in Glasgow.

Daniel Kiernan, the D and C No 1 from Derwentside, is still at 18th place in Britain and he has a world ranking of 746 and is third best from the NE region with Jonathan Marray and David Sherwood, both Yorkshire, ahead of him.

It is in the doubles that Kiernan is excelling at present. He and Sherwood last week took the title in the ITF 10,000 dollars tournament in Glasgow beating the singles champion Andrew Murray of Scotland and Guy Thomas of Wales by 6-7 6-0 6-0.
