PLANS to build flats on the site of Richmond's former post office garages have been abandoned.
Developer Elevations Northern had submitted a bid for a three-storey building behind the Ralph Fitz Randal pub, containing 12 apartments.
But Richmond Civic Society opposed the project, which also met resistance from the highways department and the emergency services, who had raised concerns about access to the site.
Richmondshire District Council was to debate the project at a meeting on Tuesday night.
