FESTIVAL DAY: Following the harvest festival services on Sunday, at Orchard Community Centre, at 10am, and St John's Church, at 10.30am, a free lunch will be served at Egglescliffe Parish Hall, Butts Lane, Egglescliffe, at 11.30am.

Please supply own drinks and sign up in church if you would like to take part or contribute a fruit pie for pudding. Because of the lunch, coffee will not be served after the service in St John's Church.

HARVEST DONATIONS: Children at Yarm Preparatory School held an assembly to celebrate harvest festival. The Reverend Clay Roundtree blessed the school's harvest gifts. The children took in baskets of food to be delivered to eight residential homes, as well as pet food for an animal sanctuary and more than £180 for Teesside Children's Hospice.

GUIDED WALKS: Events to mark Preston Hall Museum and Park's 50th anniversary continue this weekend. On Saturday, from 1pm to 3pm, there is a cultural workshop with sari demonstrations. On Sunday, from 10am, there is a guided walk around the park, looking at the history of the hall and its grounds. Normal museum admission charges apply.

MEMORIAL APPEAL: The church wardens of St Martin's Church, Kirklevington, are trying to contact the family of Mary Reay, whose memorial cross has been laid down for safety reasons. The grave probably dates from the 1920s. Other families have already been contacted about dangerous headstones. To help, call (01642) 784918.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Yarm Parish Church Christmas fair will take place on November 22, in the Fellowship Hall, in West Street. Help is needed in providing goods or helping on the day. To get involved, call (01642) 780944.

MEETINGS HELD: Links WI meets on the first Tuesday of each month at All Saint's Church, Swinburne Road, Eaglescliffe, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. They listen to guest speakers, make crafts and hold talks. To join, call (01642) 782711.

COFFEE DANCE: A coffee dance with Colin and Pat Swain will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10am to noon, at Egglescliffe Community Centre, Eaglescliffe. Admission is 50p.

FLOWER TALK: Brian Lake will tell flower stories at a meeting of Worsall WI, in the village hall, at 7.15pm on Monday. The competition is for an old medicine bottle.

NEW MINIBUS: A two-year fundraising campaign by the Friends of Teesside Preparatory and High School has paid off. The group has raised enough money to buy a new minibus for the school.

GEORDIE TALKS: Margaret Pringle will entertain Ingleby Barwick and Thornaby WI members with a presentation called Geordie Talks, at its meeting in the Methodist Church, Standard Way, at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

VILLAGE HARVEST: The Reverend Harland led the harvest service at Maltby Methodist Church on Sunday. This year, the church is collecting cash and donations for shoeboxes in aid of Operation Christmas Child.
