Mike Gough Sports Hartlepool Sunday League Premier Division:

Blackhall Cricket Club 2, Blackhall Breathless 1

Ithe first encounter for 29 years between two Blackhall sides in a top division clash, Cricket Club edged out Breathless in a tight game featuring good football from both sides. The visitors started well although paid the price for their failure to take their chances. The Cricketers went ahead with a superb goal from Phil Jones with what was only their second chance. They doubled their lead with Scott Burns' penalty before Breathless pulled a goal back through Gordon Mole. Moss and Robins starred for the victors in a game well handled by Malcolm Lancaster.

Shakespeare 1 Rovers 5

The game started at a frantic pace with the home side on top but Rovers took the lead against the run of play with a good finish from Michael Ford. Five minutes later Shakespeare took advantage of a midfield mix-up and Kenny Bolton set up Phillip Ross to score. Rovers then stepped up the pace and added two more through Lee Keers and Ford. Shakespeare created plenty of chances but were thwarted by Gary Easson in the visitors' goal. Ford completed his hat-trick and then turned provider for Tony Skedd who fired home from 18 yards. Graham, Ford and Hughes starred for Rovers with Ross best for the home side.

Sports Bar 3 Belle Vue Old Boys 2

The home side returned to winning ways, winning by the odd goal in five. After a fairly even opening the deadlock was broken when keeper Peter Gale slammed home from the penalty spot and repeated the trick shortly after the break to double their lead. Belle Vue upped the ante and came back with two quick goals to draw level. With both teams searching for a winner it was sub Tony Wilson who stabbed the ball home to grab all three points. Centre-halves McNeany and Cormack starred for the home side. Best wished for a speedy recovery to Carl Doyle who suffered a broken collar bone.

Welfare Cosmopolitan 0 Burn Valley Club 3

Chances were missed at both ends before Burn Valley took the lead just before half-time with a hotly contested penalty. Andrew Watts scored after Chris Moody was brought down. Minutes into the second half Glen Watson fired home the rebound after Brendan Hampshire's shot had been parried. A quick free kick by Watts saw Ian Davies open his account for Burn Valley with their third against a dispirited Welfare side.

First Division

Hartlepool Cricket Club 3 Office 2

Office took a deserved lead through Neil Swift but Ashley Day volleyed the home side onto level terms. Michael Gustavason's 25 yard rocket put the Cricketers ahead but couldn't press home their advantage and John Hand finished off good work by Swift to equalise. The home side regrouped and a solo effort by Jason Taylor won them the game.

Rugby 9 Woodcutter 0

Rugby's excellent league form continued with a nine goal drubbing of Woodcutter. The goals started as early as 30 seconds when Simon Ritson put the home side ahead. Chris Fletcher, a Peter Iveson penalty and an own goal made it 4-0 at the break. Neil Reilly bagged a second half brace and further goals from Ritson, John Whitfield and Ian Reilly wrapped up the points.

Throston Wanderers 4 Nursery 2

The home side started well and Thomas Hudson put them in front but Steven Doyle equalised and Karl Fraser put Nursery in front at the break. Gary Rowbotham went close to equalising but it was Gavin Milne who eventually levelled. A Dean Hustler penalty put Throston back in front and Gary Moore completed the scoring after good work by Sanderson, Johnson and Hewitson.

Travellers Rest 1 Odessa 5

Paul Martin finished off a flowing move, Mark Robinson fired home from 18 yards and Christopher Hastings headed home Lee Bryan's corner. Martin ran on to Bryan's through ball to score the best goal of the day and then unselfishly set up Hastings to tap home the fifth. Travellers did lift their game in the second half but it was a case of too little, too late and their only consolation came from Peter Twidale.

Ye Olde Durhams11 Corner Flag 1

Durhams started strongly and were soon two goals to the good through Ronnie Sudron and Steve Barr. The home side pressed home their advantage and Barr added another. Although Darren Simpson pulled one back for Flag with an outstanding effort, Jason Lester soon restored the three goal lead and Durhams scored more through Barr added two more, Paul Boagey, Neil Dobson and Glen Tucker.

Second Division

Owton Lodge 3 Clarendon 8

Clarendon raced into a four goal lead with goals from Lee Connor, two from Marty Waggott and an own goal. They then switched off and allowed the visitors to score twice within a minute past stand-in keeper Peter Smith with goals from Neil Stabler and John Medhurst. However they started the second half back on top and added four more from Paul Jewson's 25 yarder, two more from Waggott and one for last season's leading scorer Andy Normanton opening his season's account. Darren Wilding's 25 yard drive into the top corner at the death was no more than a consolation for battling Lodge. Best for the winners were man of the match Danny Robinson and debutant Adam Palmer.

Peterlee Moorcock 4 Athletic Millhouse 3

Moorcock took the lead within five minutes when Keith Addison hit a 30-yard screamer and doubled their advantage when John Butterfield headed home powerfully from John Powell's cross. Butterfield then turned provider, heading on for Mark Stewart to hammer home. The home side continued to press and missed a penalty before Stewart added his second and their fourth. Millhouse pulled their game together and reduced the arrears before half-time. A new formation proved beneficial for the visitors and they scored two more in the second half and were only denied an equaliser by a desperate goal-line clearance from Wilkinson and Robinson.

St Francis 2000 2 Engineers 4

Stuart Robson put the visitors ahead and Robert Gibbins added a second with a fine header, with Dean Ryan and Darren Rowbotham going close to increasing the lead. The home side looked brighter in the second half and Daniel Millican pulled a goal back but team stalwart Gary Lupton restored Engineers' advantage. Simon Hoey again reduced the arrears but Robson scored his second and his side's fourth with a neat lob.

Seaton Holy Trinity 1 Fens Hotel 8

Andy Archer hit a first half hat-trick as Fens ran high-flying Seaton's defence ragged and cruised to a comfortable victory.
