A HOSPICE has a good reason for banking on the success of its fundraising appeal.

The Yorkshire Bank Charitable Trust has presented the Teesside Hospice Care Foundation, in Middlesbrough, with £250 to cover the cost of designing and printing a range of posters to promote its lottery scheme.

Teesside Hospice Lottery has proved one of the most successful ways of raising hospice income and already has more than 13,000 members, each paying £1 per week. It brings in more than £300,000 of income each year.

Teesside Hospice provides specialist care services for people suffering from terminal illnesses and must raise £2,600 a day to keep these services operating.

Margaret Kent, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: "We are delighted with the donation from the Yorkshire Bank Charitable Trust which will enable us to produce a range of new promotional posters for the lottery.

"Through our research and experience we believe there are many more people who would support us via our lottery and we are hoping to contact them through a new range of leaflets and posters. A growth in lottery membership will in turn provide a greater source of income for the hospice".
