Durham League, Division Two: Belmont Pumas v Old Houghtonians: A fast moving game settled down into a basket for basket affair until Graham hit six straight points for the Pumas.

Houghton who had a more controlled build up used Burlinson well enable Smailes to hit outside shots to bring the game level. The Pumas more adventurous attack enabled Elderkin to get some easy shots to give Belmont a one-point half time lead. The Pumas built a slight lead in the third quarter until Smailes and Burlinson's strong board work levelled it up once more. With everything to play for late on, the experience and strength of Houghton came through and a ten point lead left Belmont chasing the rest of the game. Despite a late Elderkin surge the Pumas couldn't get close to Houghton who won the game 65-59.

Old Houghtonians: Phillip Smailes 32, Nathan Jenner 10.

East Durham & Houghall Comm. College v Teesside University

College triumph in a hard fought game over Teeside in a low scoring affair marred by 'school boy' errors. University came out strong and took control from the tip off. The stunned College team watched as University played a great team game with all five starters contributing to a 22-12 first quarter lead. With the beginning of the second quarter College started to play, with some good catch up b-ball being produced. Both teams traded baskets for eight minutes and Teesside kept a hold of their lead until Davie took control of the game, leading College to a 12-2 run helped by excellent outside shooting from Maddison giving his team a one point, half time lead. Walsh and Davis kept the game close for Teeside early in the second half as College tired allowing Teesside to regain a narrow three point lead.

Barrow then stepped to the mark and started gunning jump shots to change the leaders once more as College led into the final quarter by two points. Fantastic College defence backed up by a Barrow/Davie offensive performance finished of Teeside University were not able to regain their once held lead and remained just out of reach of a rampaging East Durham team who won the game 77-67.
